Ministry Resources (Nominating) Committee
In a time with so much chaos and uncertainty, are you investing your time and energy in meaningful ways? Would you like to spend more time building the reality you want to see—communities of abundance, justice, and hope for all people?
Pastors and church leaders, we are asking that you share this information with your congregation. As always, the most effective form of recruitment is personal invitation. If this sounds like you or someone you know, please reach out!
The Ministry Resources Committee (Nominating Committee) of the Pacific NW Conference of the UCC has openings to fill – opportunities for lay people and clergy to communicate, connect and contribute to God’s work. There are many committees that make up the conference, each with their own piece of the puzzle.
- Are you a skilled communicator and storyteller?
- Are you gifted at coming alongside individuals or communities in moments of transition and asking thoughtful questions?
- Do you have experience in taking on a project, breaking down the project into manageable pieces and collaborating with others to see it completed?
- Do you have a heart for justice, or for one of our conference camps?
- Do you enjoy getting to know people and connecting them with meaningful opportunities to serve?
- Do you have experience in organizational change, personnel, church leadership, stewardship, hospitality, event planning… the list goes on!
We seek to promote diverse membership on all the committees – diversity along racial and ethnic lines, and diversity of age, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, and geographic location. We also seek to achieve a balance of lay and clergy members on the committees.
What are the expectations of committee members? It varies by committee, but generally speaking: faith and commitment to the U.C.C., commitment to work with an anti-racist lens, ability to work collaboratively, and willingness to participate in meetings and devote time to the work. Committees generally meet monthly via Zoom for an hour or two. Committee members often take on additional tasks to do between meetings. New committee members are nominated by the MRC and the slate is approved at the Conference Annual Meeting.
